摘要
The Human capital theory management supports the need to invest in the formation of people, to increase productivity. The recent increases in the publications of scientific products have aroused interest in Ecuadorian universities, inducing the search for contributing factors. Considering these assumptions, this study shows that the increases in doctoral training (in research) of university teaching staff directly and significantly affects scientific productivity. In such demonstration, a quantitative approach has been followed, of a relational nature between research training and scientific production. For the study, a sample of 85 teachers from the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Education Sciences of Guayaquil University (Ecuador) was selected, who have completed or ongoing doctoral studies and the publication of scientific products. The information was collected from the Curriculum Vitae declared by the faculty, organizing them as study indicators. The results describe the incipient evolution of doctoral training (in research) and the growing scientific production (more of a regional impact than an international one); highlighting the positive correlations between the indicators. The incidence of doctoral training (in research) in scientific production has been proven, in terms of the fact that the progression of doctoral studies (graduates) positively affects increases in scientific production.
