摘要
Conventional energy resources are gradually depleting day by day and the socio-economical concern for energy security is gaining attention. renewable energy sources are gaining popularity from its economic and environmental effects. This paper proposes an innovative idea for the production of electricity by utilizing the high speed wind due to the water fall from the spillway gates of a high head hydroelectric power plant. High speed wind is caused due to the flow of water from the upper reservoir of the dam to the lower reservoir. Electricity can be generated by installing wind turbines at suitable locations near spillway. The generated energy can be fed back to the system either to the main grid or can be stored in batteries for further use of station auxiliaries.
