Hydrodehalogenation of aryl chlorides is carried out using NaBH4 in the presence of an Ni-phosphine catalytic system. The nature of the solvent plays a very important role in determining the efficiency of the system: very high dechlorination rates are obtained using ethanol/pyridine mixtures.
