摘要
In this article, we present a Polar Code (PC) extension technique based on Non-Uniform Polarization by Gaussian Approximation (NUPGA). Key advantages of the proposed design are that the code construction is rate-compatible and that the complexity of the encoder and decoder is the same as the original polar codes. Simulations illustrate that the proposed extension technique performs better compared to the existing techniques in short block scenarios, which can be advantageous in Internet of Things scenarios. The proposed extension method has less computational complexity than the classic puncturing and shortening methods and it can be used by the same encoder and decoder as the standard polar codes.
