摘要
Inflammation is pivotal in all phases of atherosclerosis. Increasing body weight is positively associated with inflammation. Weight loss studies have shown that decreasing body weight significantly decreases C-reactive protein, the prototypic biomarker for inflammation. Reducing inflammation through weight loss could therefore be associated with reduced risk for cardiovascular disease and other obesity-associated chronic diseases.(C) 2005 International Life Sciences Institute.
