摘要
Institutions such as museum and art gallery shares almost the same mission and functions which is to collect, conserve, preserve and exhibits collections of artifacts. Here, the word artifact means an item made by a human. That could be in a form of an art piece or even an everyday item for daily basis. Most of the museum and art gallery in Malaysia provides website in order to provide potential visitors with basic information of the institutions. However, in terms of sharing their collections online are limited. This study is made in order to figure numbers of the museum and gallery in Malaysia that does provide access to their online collections and how does an access to the institutions' online collection made visible can help enhanced view and value of the collections and institutions based on recent trends in the developed countries. The methods applied in this study are reviewing the past related literature as to find gaps in previous research, observations on the current and available website of museum and gallery in Malaysia then compared to the other institutions' website in developed countries.
