This study has as its starting point Lima Barreto's book Recordacoes do escrivuo Isaias Caminha. Special attention will be given to the "Breve noticia" that precedes the text of the second edition. It is intended, from Isaias, to bring to light a certain activity, a procedure proper to the author and present in much of his work: the fictional testimony.
