摘要
Comparative pulmonary toxicity of metal oxide nanoparticles is addressed for several different materials. The size of the particles is an important variable which depends on both the fundamental particle size and the aggregation of nanoscale particles into larger clusters. The solubility of each material in lung fluids is also significant because it impacts the fate of particles that enter the lung. The effects of metal oxide nanoparticles on cultured lung epithelial cells are described.
