FRAGMENTS FOR AN ETHNOGRAPHY OF COMMUNITY AND INDIGENOUS RADIOS IN LATIN AMERICA

In this paper we are interested in highlighting the existence of extended communities based on the social, political, and cultural use that the actors involved in community and indigenous radio stations in Latin America make of these media. For this, we resort to the presentation of three ethnographic cases. From Chiapas (Mexico), we look at the dialogic process of indigenous communication and the value of the word to generate community. On the other hand, we analyze the different strategies that indigenous and community radio stations follow in the search and expression of identities in the Quebrada de Humahuaca and the Puna de Jujuy (Argentine Northwest). Finally, we address the questioning of gender relations raised by female communicators from Bolivia. In all cases, our purpose is to interpret how the radio experience is capable of creating new communities.
