摘要
Traumatic dental injuries occur relatively frequently in children. The precise diagnosis and immediate adequate treatment prevent further complications and are decisive for the prognosis of the injured tooth. In order to choose the right treatment it is important to differentiate between deciduous and permanent teeth, as well as to consider the period between the accident and the first dental consultation. In the case of deciduous teeth, non-invasive treatment should be preferred whenever possible. Priority must be given to an effective elimination of pain and preservation of normal development of the underlying permanent tooth. A rapid and correct treatment of injured permanent teeth aims to preserve the vitality of the pulp and the periodontium. After the initial treatment, a regular recall is mandatory for early detection of possible complications.
