This paper proposes a new wind energy conversion system (WECS) based on PMSG and Y-source converter. The proposed converter has a high voltage gain in the small rang of duty ratio and more degree of freedom for setting the voltage gain as compared to its counterparts. Using the characteristics of the Y-source converter, the system absorbs maximum power from the wind energy under various wind speeds. Simulation results prove the appropriate performance of the proposed wind power conversion system and its accurate response to the wind speed variations.
