The paper gives an overview of experience of the Ethics Committee of the Institute of Clinical and Preventive Medicine in Bratislava (Slovakia) in implementation of the requirements of the Good Clinical Practice guidelines and other international documents in ethics review of the projects or protocols of clinical research (therapeutic and non-therapeutic), including the protocols of clinical trials of new drugs (phase I - III). This ethics committee was established as the first 'local' research ethics review body in Slovakia.
