摘要
When evaluating multiple-choice tests, it is of interest how many questions are answered on the basis of actual knowledge; this figure is also termed the "knowledge rate". A method of estimating this rate was described in 1987 by Garcia-Perez in the "Finite State Model." This paper compares that method with a binomial model, where the estimate is based on the maximum-likelihood method. The comparison shows that a Garcia-Perez based estimate yields results that describe the simulated knowledge rate much better. In order to simplify the estimations of the subjects' knowledge rate and guess rate, estimated figures can be read from a table or diagram.
