Active Phase Locking of Laser Coherent Beam Combination Using Square Wave Dithering Algorithm

摘要
Based on a novel demodulation algorithm, we demonstrate a square wave dithering algorithm for active phase locking in the laser coherent beam combination. We investigate theoretically and experimentally the phase-locking performances. The numerical simulation shows that the square wave dithering algorithm possesses a high control bandwidth and a low residual phase error for active phase control. In the experiment, we achieve a stable phase-locking operation of a 7-channel tiled aperture array with a corresponding residual phase error of lambda/22 rms. The square wave dithering algorithm shows superiority on the power scaling and the channel scaling in the laser coherent beam combining system.
