摘要
Both professional tradition and Higher Education have separated the discipline of architecture from that of archaeology. As a result, they are often seen as opposing and even detested professions. Fortunately, there are now countless fruitful collaborations between both professions. Working together is an opportunity for the scientific enrichment of the architecture work. The necessary collaboration between architects and archaeologists is particularly evident in actions on the historic city or on the cultural properties that make up our cultural heritage, as we must not forget that any heritage action is a unique opportunity to learn about the complex historical process that each place or building has undergone until it reaches its current state. In this article we reflect on the reasons that hinder the relationship between architecture and archaeology professionals, appealing to the gaps present in the curricular design of architecture degrees and master's degrees taught in Architecture universities. We also briefly review the trajectory of the Archaeology of Architecture and its inclusion in the studies on cultural heritage offered at Spanish universities, going into more detail on the need to bring the two disciplines closer together, suggesting possible didactic actions to get it.
