摘要
This paper presents on results of ureolytic bacteria effect on compressive strength and water permeability of bio-concrete. Ureolytic bacteria that was used in this study was isolated from fresh urine. Water was partially replaced through three different percentages 1%, 3%, and 5% by liquid of growth medium containing ureolytic bacteria. Tests were conducted on the 7th, 14th, and 28th days of the specimens curing. A maximum increase of compressive strength (23%) and reduction of water permeability (10.4%) is achieved by 3% ureolytic bacteria concentration. The improvement in compressive strength and water permeability was due to the deposition on the bacteria cell surface within the pores.
