摘要
The paper investigates the design and kinematic behavior of a novel origami canopy. Arc Miura-ori patterns are introduced to display the curved surface configuration. The spans and curvatures of assembled Arc Miura-ori units are discussed with two vertex angle modes. Then a calculated method to determine geometry parameters with different constraint conditions is proposed for the different target configurations. Moreover, the design process of the origami canopy is illustrated with a case. The evaluation results of the mobility show that the designed canopy has a broad motion range with small strains. This study opens a novel avenue to exploit the Miura-ori for the design of curved shapes in various fields.
