Synthesis of poly(imides)in supercritical carbon dioxide

摘要
Poly(imides) with a quantitative yield were produced by the polycyclocondensation of dianhydride 6F, diamine 6F, and 9,9-bis(4'-aminophenyl)fluorene in supercritical carbon dioxide (32.5 MPa, 180 degreesC). The synthesized polymers have an inherent viscosity up to 0.43 dl/g, M-w = 12.4 x 10(3), M-n = 4.7 x 10(3), and M-w/M-n = 2.6. It is suggested that, in the presence of traces of water, supercritical carbon dioxide plays the role of a catalyst in the formation of poly(imides).
