摘要
The aim of this investigation was to get some information how a late infection or a wound healing inflammation could act on calcium phosphate coated implants. For this purpose hydroxyapatite (commercial BIOLOX (R) osprovit) and calcium zirconium phosphate [CaZr4(PO4)(6)] were analyzed with regard to their solubility using two buffer solutions (TRIS-HCl and citric acid phosphate McIlvain) each of them with different pH values of 6.0 and 7.4, respectively. The results led to the conclusion that hydroxyapatite is less stable in a body environment when the local pH value decreases below 7.4. The consequence is that the hydroxyapatite coating. may be weakened if there is a late infection or wound healing inflammation. This may cause loosening of coated implants. Calcium zirconium phosphate could be an alternative coating material taking account of the absolute solubility values.
