The paper focuses on the identification of the parameters of a time-dependent elastic-damage interface model for the simulation of debonding in composites. Model parameters are identified by means of the extended Kalman filter and of a numerical approximate computation of the gradient of the system response in the state variable space. For the identification use is made of pseudo-experimental data both at the constitutive (material) level and at the structural level. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
