摘要
Intra-abdominal abscess is a limited reservoir of pus in the abdomen. It can be localized in both the peritoneal cavity and in the retroperitoneal space or parenchymatous organs. The pocket is aftermath of the diffuse or limited peritonitis or may also be caused by infection of abdominal organs, or complications due to surgery or trauma. Cause of intra-abdominal abscess can be a bacterial infection, fungal or less mixed. The most common include subdiaphragmatic, periappendicular, interintestinal abscesses and those located in pelvis. As often abscesses of the pancreas and liver and less often spleen or perirenal abscesses are observed.
