Luminescent properties of 4,4-bipyridinium chlorobismuthate salt: Strong influence of solvation

摘要
Reaction of BiCl3 and 4,4-bipy in 2 M HCl leads to the formation of 4,4-bipyridinium salt of binuclear chlorobismuthate complex (bipyH(2))(2)[Bi2Cl10]center dot 2H(2)O (1). When heated in air, 1 loses the solvate water molecules to give (bipyH(2))(2)[Bi2Cl10] (2). The dehydration results in significant changes in luminescent behavior. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V.
