Multiple description image coding based on holographic representation and quadtree coding

摘要
Multiple description coding (MDC) has recently emerged as an attractive framework for robust image transmission over unreliable channels. A new wavelet-based MDC method that achieves robust to transmission errors is proposed. The method uses the holographic representation of image and quadtree coding algorithm to produce independent bitstreams that are less sensitive to the transmission errors than those in the general embedded coding method. Simulation and experimental results are presented in the later part of this paper. Performance results show that the proposed method has an effective error resilient performance for image transmission.
