摘要
The energetic electron dynamics in the Earth's radiation belts is mainly governed by the radial and local diffusion processes due to various plasma waves in the inner magnetosphere. We present our recent simulation results of the energetic electron evolution during March 2013 using the UCLA 3D diffusion code. The Van Allen Probes have provided detailed observations of the various radiation belt electron evolutions during different geomagnetic conditions in this period. The electron fluxes were enhanced by several orders of magnitude during a geomagnetic storm period, and the different energy electrons presented different penetration depths as well as inward diffusive and slow decaying features in the subsequent quiet period. Our simulations re-constructed the main features of the Van Allen probes observations. Our study suggests the significant and distinct roles of various plasma waves in the outer radiation belt electron dynamics.
