摘要
Lattice structure is a network of truss including struts or plates interconnected to each other. The lattice structures have many inherent advantages due to their ability to reduce the weight of the product whilst still ensure high specific strength and stiffness of materials. They have been used in many industrial engineering applications such as improvement of material properties, thermal engineering, and biomedical application. However, the generation of lattice structure model in Computer Aided Design CAD) environment has many difficulties using the current commercial CAD software. Therefore, this paper presents an application of CAD to create a model of lattice structure for additive manufacturing technologies. An interface to generate a model of lattice structure has been developed in Visual Basic programming language based on the API functions in SolidWorks (R) software. The interface helps product designers generating automatically a complex model of lattice structure of designed product in CAD environment.
