It is of pivotal importance to debate the merits of one technique over the other as both concepts are relevant to the progression of the surgical treatments that we offer. Therefore the maintenance of one's skillset relies on a regular deployment of both and fluid versatility to justify the best course of each technique depending on the needs and characteristics of each patient and their spinal deformity. Increasing studies are demonstrating appropriate adult spinal deformity correction with minimalization of complication leads to better radiographic alignment and higher quality of life scores.28,29 Although maintaining a working knowledge of both techniques, one must be cognoscente of the advances of technology and the symbiotic relationship between the 2. © 2019 Wolters Kluwer Health, Inc.
