Structural investigation of Fe2O3-TeO2-B2O3-SrO glasses by EPR

Tellurite glasses having viterous matrices were structurally investigated by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) of paramagnetic ions. The EPR absorption spectra was due to the presence of Fe3+ paramagnetic ions in the investigated glasses. Isolated Fe3+ ions were detected in rhombically distorted octahedral sites subjected to strong crystal field effects. Super-exchange interactions were observed due to antiferromagnetically coupled Fe3+-Fe3+ and Fe2+-Fe2+ ions. The evolution obtained for the EPR parameters of the absorption spectrum was explained by the ferrous and ferric ion interactions.
