Different concentrations of dicamba were evaluated for the formation of callus from the base leaves obtained of in vitro growth plantlets (var. Smooth Cayenne and Red Spanish). From these explants were obtained callus of slow growing, hard, nodular and pale yellow, similar to embryogenetic callus described by other authors. Plant regeneration in these callus was studied. In spite of low callus weight increase with 2.5 mg/L Dicamba + 0,5mg/L BAP (Benzylaminopurine) treatment, its plant regeneration ability was higher than the others. The embryogenic characteristics of the callus and embryos were determinated by histological examination. A close similitude between zygotic and somatic embryos was observed.
