摘要
This work investigates the liquid phase sintering of beta silicon carbide, using aluminum nitride (AlN) and a concentrate of yttrium and rare earth oxides (CITR), as carbonate or in the calcined form, as additives. Furthermore, the influence of nitrogen or argon atmospheres during sintering of silicon carbide has been evaluated. Samples sintered under argon atmosphere presented higher relative densities and also higher micro-hardness values than samples sintered under nitrogen atmosphere.
