First stages of grain coarsening in semi-solid Al-Cu alloys

摘要：
The structure and morphology changes during first minutes of isothermal holding of a binary Al-Cu alloy in the mushy state were studied by holding and quenching experiments. Additional experiments were done in a laser scanning confocal microscope in an attempt of in situ observation of grain coarsening, especially during the first stages of melting of the eutectic phase.
