摘要
Chronic pulmonary interstitial fibrosis (CPIF) is a chronic respiratory disease characterized by exercise intolerance and dyspnoea in psittacine birds. The histological aspects were described previously in postmortem examinations of Amazon parrots that died after a period of respiratory distress. The histological aspects of this disease will be described and compared to a similar human disease, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. In addition, a case of chronic pulmonary fibrosis in an Amazon parrot that was diagnosed antemortern by means of computerized tomography and lung biopsies will be presented.
