Terahertz emission from HgTe nanocrystals excited by femtosecond optical pulses

摘要
Large HgTe nanocrystals are very attractive for THz technology since they possess strong intraband absorption at THz frequencies with hot carrier relaxation times of few picoseconds. Here, we demonstrate that large HgTe nanocrystals excited by femtosecond optical pulses emit coherent THz emission from 0.2 THz to 2.5 THz. Our study reveals the great potential of HgTe nanocrystals as an original scheme for coherent THz emission.
