摘要
The moisture transmission of handsheets prepared from unbleached kraft pulp and recycled newsprint paper were investigated experimentally with special attention focused on the effective moisture diffusion phenomena. A mathematical model for the effective diffusivity was developed to account for both gas-phase diffusion and solid-phase moisture movement in the paper. The contribution of solid-phase diffusion to the effective moisture diffusion was found to be 10 to 25% at a given void fraction point greater than 0.55. The effective moisture diffusivity largely depends on the relative humidity (RH) differences prevailing at the two opposite surfaces of the paper. The activation energy of water-vapor diffusion and water-vapor permeation of paper were 38.87 kJ/mol and 38.68 kJ/mol, respectively. The enthalpy of solution accompanied in the moisture transmission process in paper was determined to be -19 J/mol.
