ABDOMINAL PEDIATRIC PHYSICAL EXAM

The abdominal pathology represents an important diagnosis challenge in all age groups especially on the pediatric one. Due to the limited literature available regarding new data, its continuous conceptual analysis from the adult to the pediatric patient as well as the unknown of its pathological, anatomical, semiological and other characteristics, lead to inaccurate assessment and ambiguous diagnosis. This article depicts a revision of the comprehensive pediatric abdominal physical examination taking into account the abdominal surgical and non-surgical pathology. In addition, it thoroughly studies an anamnesis which supports the reliability of the results along with addressing the clinical importance of certain signs during the physical examination, the usefulness of the semiological techniques on the abdominal inspection and finally some considerations of abdominal masses and ostomy exams resulting in an appropriate diagnosis and treatment.
