摘要
The O-polysaccharide (O-antigen) of Salmonella enterica O44 was studied by sugar analysis along with 1D and 2D (1)H and (13)C NMR spectroscopy. The following structure of the pentasaccharide repeating unit containing only common monosaccharides was established: beta-D-GlcpNAc 1 down arrow 3 -> 2)-alpha-D-Glcp-(1 -> 6)-alpha-D-Glcp-(1 -> 4)-alpha-D-Galp-(1 -> 3)-beta-D-GlcpNAc-(1 -> The O-antigen gene cluster of S. enterica O44 was sequenced. The gene functions were tentatively assigned by comparison with sequences in the available databases and found to be in full agreement with the S. enterica O44-polysaccharide structure.
