Insecticide resistance in Culex quinquefasciatus Say 1823 (Diptera: Culicidae) from Zulia State, Venezuela

The susceptibility of larvae mosquito Culex quinquefasciatus Say, 1823 (Diptera: Culicidae) proceeding of four localities of Zulia state with six insecticide of the four family of plaguicides Betacyflutrin, Cyflutrin y Lambdacyhalotrin (piretroides), Fenthion y Malathion (Organofosforates) and Propoxur (Carbamic) was tested. Culex quinquefasciatus larvae's of age IV were exposed using the World Health Organization (W.H.O) methodology. More susceptible to Betacyflutrin, order tolerance increased following Cyflutrin, Lambdacyhalotrin, Fenthion, Malathion and Propoxur was found. In order to kill 99.99% of Cx. quinquefasciatus larvae Malathion and Propoxur higher doses, recommended by W.H.O, 1.0 mg a.i/l and 3 mg a.i/l, respective are necessary. Concluding that Cx. quinquefasciatus from Zulia state its resistant to these insecticides.
