摘要
Coal is used as commercial conventional fuel that is basically bituminous to sub bituminous type in India. It's combustion results in generation of fly ash that is potential threat to our environment due to its properties that depends on different other parameters. Thus, in the study an attempt was made to study and analyze the characteristics of coal used in thermal power plant at Gandhinagar thermal power plant and thereby generated fly ash. Various instruments such as SEM-EDX (Scanning electron microscopy/Energydispersive spectroscopy), DLS (Dynamic light scattering), FTIR (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy), XRD (X-Ray diffraction), XRF (X-Ray fluorescence) were used for detailed analysis of morphology, particle size, functional group analysis, mineralogy and elemental composition analysis respectively.
