Expression of platelet-derived endothelial cell growth factor and vascular endothelial growth factor in gastric carcinomas

摘要
Angiogenesis is a prerequisite to cancer growth and metastasis and is induced by a variety of angiogenic factors. In the present study, we investigated the correlation between the expression of PDECGF or VEGF and the progression of gastric carcinomas. Immunohistochemical analysis was performed on 166 adenocarcinomas of the stomach. The expression of PDECGF was correlated with lymph node metastasis and advanced stage. Moreover, patients with PDECGF-positive tumors had a significantly poorer prognosis than those without it. Interestingly, in 34 patients with esophago-gastric-carcinoma, patients with VEGF-positive tumors had a significantly poorer prognosis than those without it. These result; indicate that the expression of PDECGF may be a good prognostic marker for patients with gastric carcinoma. And also, the expression of VEGF may be a good prognostic indicator for patients with esophago-gastric carcinomas.
