摘要：

The paper brings the results of an analysis of chosen sets of textbooks used for Russian language teaching at primary and secondary schools in the Czech environment. The aim of the analysis was to evaluate the function and the extent to which the visual expressions are used in order to develop sociocultural or else intercultural communicative competence of the pupils. The paper provides a fundamental overview of the types of visual expressions in textbooks.
