摘要
Uncertainties arising from the wind climate, exposure, aerodynamic and structural characteristics of a bridge subjected to wind, can give rise to invalid predictions of its response and its intrinsic safety. The paper describes a tool to evaluate the "wind loading chain" and illustrates the impact that refinement of the uncertainties can have on the appropriate safety factors. The paper also outlines the application of influence lines to the assessment of the statistical response of a bridge. The statistical responses of full scale and model bridges in turbulent flow a compared to indicate the modelling uncertainties.
