Hydrothermal Synthesis and Luminescence Properties of NaGdF4:Eu3+ Crystals

Eu3+ doped NaGdF4 crystals were synthesized by hydrothermal methods. The effects of different temperatures and NaF concentration on the crystal structures and luminescence intensities were investigated. The intensity of D-5(0)-> F-7(2) transition of Eu3+ ions was closely related with the amount of GdF3 phase. The reduction of GdF3 phase could substantially enhance the ratio of D-5(0)-> F-7(2) transition and D-5(0)-> F-7(1) transition of Eu3+.
