摘要
Wireless multi-hop ad hoc networks face many issues and challenges since the nodes are mobile, battery operated and hence limited operating time. Such a short-term wireless multi-hop network may be helpful in typical scenarios like trade fair, disaster recovery, emergency rescue operations, escort group, etc. Present young generation expect all of their tasks to be done using their hand-held, portable and smart mobile device, including streaming multimedia applications. Many recent mobile applications have increased the necessity for energy efficiency and quality of service. Thus, present day applications utilizing multi-hop wireless ad hoc networking need a power aware, energy conserving and quality of service aware routing protocol. In this paper, a fuzzy logic and cross layer approach based energy efficient and quality of service aware optimized multi-path routing protocol for wireless multi-hop ad hoc networks is proposed. The proposed variant of the Ad Hoc On-demand Multi-path Distance Vector routing protocol uses cross layer approach by utilizing the parameters from various layers like residual battery power, traffic load and hop count, and fuzzy logic to determine the optimum path among the possible multi-paths computed by the routing algorithm. Its performance is compared with the Fuzzy Ad Hoc On-demand Distance Vector and Ad Hoc On-demand Multi-path Distance Vector Routing Protocols, using the network simulator version 2. The metrics used for comparing the protocols are network throughput, packet delivery ratio, end-to-end delay, routing overhead and percentage of active nodes at the end of simulation.
