Anatomy of a fast-track launch

A plastic plywood/wallboard ''Panel Carry'' for the do-it-yourself market, developed for Stanley Tool, was delivered to Stanley's distribution center six months after initiation. This was accomplished by the use of a rapid final design process, an aluminum prototype tool good for a minimum of 100,000 units and by subcontracting the initial manufacturing and packaging.
