Comprehensive system of evaluation and monitoring of teaching practices in higher education: a case study in Colombia

摘要
The purpose of this article was to establish the characteristics, participants and components of a comprehensive evaluation and monitoring system of the teaching practices at a higher education institution (HEI), in order to comply with the guidelines established by the Ministry of Education (MinEducacion). The research development had a mixed approach, the technique of systematic review of scientific literature was used, the results of the systemic review were presented to a focus group composed of teachers and academic directors of IES, who from their knowledge and experience validated the results and made significant contributions to research development. Within the conclusions, it was established that it is necessary to review the current model of HEI teacher evaluation. In view of the fact that it is not fulfilling its purpose, teacher evaluation is being seen as an activity isolated from other academic processes, so it must be taken by the academic community freely and spontaneously, in order to participation more through conviction, in turn, allowing for teacher training and the improvement of their educational practice.
