Crevice corrosion of the Cu-Zn-Al shape memory alloy

摘要
The crevice corrosion resistance of a Cu-Zn-Al shape memory alloy has been studied in Hank physiological solution by electrochemical tests. Results indicate that heat-treated 70 Cu-26Zn-4Al exhibits better anodic behavior and lower corrosion rate than the cold rolled one. SEM pictures prove that this Cu-Zn-Al shape memory alloy is a martensite single phase alloy possessing homogenous electrochemical properties. Crevice corrosion takes place on the surface of the alloy. The AES analysis of the corrosion product show that Cl participates in the corrosion process and the corrosion product consists of CuCl2. 3Cu(OH)(2). We also showed that the crevice corrosion resistance of this Cu-Zn-Al shape memory alloy can be improved by benzotriazole (BTA) passivation.
