摘要
Monitoring the health of large synchronous Machines is now an integral part of their operation. The stator inter-turn short circuit fault is one of the serious fault and have a deep influence on the safety and effectiveness of the machine. This paper describes an online monitoring method with no sensor required to predict these two faults of synchronous condenser before they propagate to a level that can leading to catastrophic failure. The paper develops an analytical model for the online fault predicting by only knowing the stator and field current, and the detailed 2D FEA models will also be built to take the core saturation and leakage magnetic field into consideration. Finally, the method will be validated by experimental results.
