The present industry update covers the period 1 October–30 October 2021, with information sourced from company press releases, regulatory and patent agencies as well as the scientific literature. Many novel drug delivery technologies are, by now, here to stay; their manufacturing processes go into licensing (Xeris) or upscaling (Credence MedSystems, Kindeva Drug Delivery). Further well-established active ingredients go into reformulation to address other clinical indications and administration routes (Arcutis Biotherapeutics). Given the rise of chronic diseases and cost pressure on healthcare systems, patient-friendly, compliant and safe self-administration medication solutions are on the rise such as patches (Corium), oral (Entera, Nanoform) and topical (Lipidor) administration routes or long-lasting implants in the physician’s office (Intersect ECT, Inc., Dextenza). © 2022 Future Medicine Ltd..
