摘要
Corrosion of a steel structure surrounding a coal-fired boiler heating plant and exposed to the atmospheric environment was investigated. Results indicated that the sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) produced by the burning of coal were responsible for the corrosion. Employing better quality coal with a lower content of S and N elements and coating the steel structure with anticorrosive paint were recommended to minimize such corrosion.
