Semiglobal Stabilization of Nonlinear Systems by n-Dimensional Sampled-Data Output Feedback

This paper first gives a review on recent advance in semiglobal asymptotic stabilization (SGAS) of MIMO nonlinear systems by sampled-data feedback and discusses their limitations. We then show how one of the limitations, namely, SGAS of SISO non-affine systems by n-dimensional sampled-data output feedback, can be addressed without using the dynamic extension method that usually results in a higher dimensional dynamic output compensator. This result provides a partial answer to the critical problem left in [12], where (2n-1)-dimensional output feedback controllers were designed.
