摘要
Polymer-dispersed liquid crystals (PDLC) provide the opportunity to achieve reliable, cheap and commercial elements for switchable holographic devices. In the present work holographic recording techniques are used to form switchable gratings in PDLCs. Depending on the initial reactivity of the mixture, Bragg and Raman-Nath gratings are obtained. The first ones show higher efficiency for s-polarization, which does not hold in the case of Raman-Nath gratings. Different exposure power of the writing beams results in different diffraction efficiency. The switching characteristics of the recorded gratings are studied. The switch-off state is obtained at about 2V/mu m for ppolarization in the first diffracted order in thin (Raman-Nath) gratings. The angular selectivity of these gratings is also investigated. The influence of the reconstructing wave polarization azimuth on the diffraction efficiency is studied.
